The UCSD Kendo Club, in conjunction with San Diego Kendo Bu, has had the opportunity to host kendo seminars, or gasshukus, and invite visiting sensei to practice with us.
Gasshukus at UCSD

Past Gasshukus have included:

-Seminar with Tamura Sensei (hanshi 8-dan, Tokyo Metropolitan Police Chief)

-Seminar with Miyahara sensei (hanshi 8-dan, 1st American 8-dan)

-Seminar and many goodwill practices with Asahina Sensei (5-dan, All-Japan Kendo Champion) and Ariga Sensei (5-dan, Canadian National Team, founder of Butokuden/E-Bogu)

-Bi-annual goodwill practices with the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force

-Visitors from San Jose, Palo Alto, PCI, Butokuden, Seattle, McGill, Montreal, etc. dojos

-Visiting sensei from Keio University, Fukushima Kendo Club, Tokyo Kendo Club, Dokkyo Medical University, Kanagawa Police Force, Naha City Kendo Club, etc.
